Draymond’s Basket to Success:
Growing up, Green played college basketball for Michigan. Moreover, he built up confidence and reputation in his 4 year University Journey.
During his freshman year in 2008-09, Draymond appeared in 37 games for Spartan’s and won the Big Ten Conference Sixth Man of the Year as a sophomore. He then captained the Spartans to tournaments in 2011-12 and was named Big Ten Men’s Basketball Player of the week four times during the season; no other Spartan in history has won the award more than three times in a single season.
He made his career’s debut when Golden State Warriors selected him in the 35th overall pick in 2012. He signed a three year, $2.6 million contract and played for just one minute in his debut match. With the Warriors’ resurgence in 2014–15, along with it came the breakthrough the Warriors were hoping for from Green. Over the first seven games of the season, Green averaged 13.6 points per game although Warriors lost 2 games. Fortunately, Warriors went for a 16- game winning streak with the help of Green as he averaged 13.3 points per game including a career-high 31 points.
Green’s Recent Jumps:
In 2015, Green re-signed to a 5-year, $82 million contract with Warriors. By the end of the year, he had scored record five or more in all five major statistical categories. At the conclusion of the regular season, Green was selected to the All-NBA Second Team. Amazingly, he became the first ever NBA player to record 10 steals and five blocks in a game! Moreover, the 10 steals also set a Warriors record and was the first 10-steal game in the NBA since Brandon Roy’s in January 2009.
Most recently, Green and the Warriors won their 2nd championship in two years in the 2017 NBA Finals. Likewise, at the awards night when the season ended, he became the first ever Warrior to receive the award of the NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
